Getting lost on the way to Dave & Carrie's wedding (Moab, 2007)
A little about me
I'm a tiny bit obsessive and totally goal oriented by nature. I love learning new things, all the time. I'm a pretty decent problem solver with a background in math, and I can generally form a complete and coherent sentence.
Lucky for me these are all characteristics that work well for an Actuary. So after working as an Actuarial Analyst in a Pension Consulting group for almost five years, I transferred to the technology group of the same firm and started working from home. Now I'm an Actuarial QA, which in my case means that I help developers to create software, test the software, work on the help desk, and occasionally have an opportunity to train users. It's both techno-geeky and teach-y, and I love it.
I'm married to a super cool guy who keeps me down to earth, and reminds me there's more to life than work. He's gotten me into mountain biking ... I wouldn't say I'm obsessive about it really, but I love it!
We have a Portuguese Water Dog that we adopted as an adult. She has a long and odd "official" name, but we call her Demitasse. Yes, she's brown, and on the small side of normal for the breed ... like a small cup of coffee. She's adorable and funny, and we love her and spoil her rotten.
We live in the perfect town. Corvallis is just an hour and a half from Portland (shows, shopping, Cross Crusade races), and an hour from the Coast. We can get to singletrack in ten minutes by bike, and ride for hours in the forest adjacent to town. And it's a University town, which means that despite the small size (50,000 including students), we have some tiny variety of restaurants, shopping and festivals. It's fabulous. We love it.
